PIM MITIGATION

THE LONG-TERM, LOW MAINTENANCE, LOW COST RF SOLUTION

The PIM reduction challenge for telecom RF solutions teams

Traditional approaches to the reduction of passive intermodulation (PIM) require continuous maintenance. Foams, strips and tape don’t last. Diagnostic visits are costly. Resolving PIM “trouble tickets” takes an average of 13 hours. Often antennas are unnecessarily replaced. IsoTruss has developed an alternative RF solution.

Achieve long-lasting PIM mitigation with IsoTruss PIM Armor panels for behind-the-antenna PIM sources

IsoTruss has developed an innovation
with significant advantages

  • Little to no maintenance
  • Lightweight
  • Paintable
  • Weatherproof
  • Structural
  • Customizable
  • Affordable kit. Easy installation, no additional devices required

The IsoTruss PIM Armor panels solution

As you know, PIM interference is created in the connections between the tower and the equipment. Metal-to-metal connections can work as an “antenna” reverberating the RF signal and creating interference in the original signal.
The IsoTruss PIM Armor panel is a patented composite panel that can eliminate PIM interference behind the antenna. IsoTruss PIM Armor panels interface with existing mount hardware and can be installed without removing the antenna from the mount.

Increase the quality of your signal

By minimizing the passive intermodulation, the IsoTruss PIM mitigation solution can greatly increase the range and strength of your signal, improve the signal-to-noise ratio, upgrade system reliability and cut operating costs.

Proven in the field

The IsoTruss RF solution, now operational in the field with a major telecom, relieves the pain of installers as well as national uplink/interference/PIM remediation teams concerned about 5G system performance and operating costs. The components of our affordable kit are made with special RF properties to reflect/absorb signals that create interference.

FAQs

What is PIM?

PIM (Passive Intermodulation) is a generic term used to describe signal interference created by passive sources such as nearby metal hardware.

How is PIM created?

When the radio frequency signals emitted by the tower reach the interface region of two different pieces of metal, there is a possibility that this region absorbs this signal and starts to emit a distorted signal. This distorted signal interferes with the communication between the tower and the device receiving the signal from the tower and emitting the signal to the tower.

How do IsoTruss products reduce PIM?

IsoTruss PIM Armor panels prevent backward signals emitted by the antennas that can interact with the tower and brackets that secure the antennas. IsoTruss panels are designed to fit around the antenna to prevent PIM sources behind the antenna.

Given that not all PIM issues are created equal, let us know your specific circumstances, location and other factors, with the goal of resolving the issue with a customized solution.

What is the frequency of maintenance required in these products?

None. The products are non-corrosive, do not rust or degrade, and are weatherproof and windproof. They are also designed to last longer than the tower itself. IsoTruss also offers a 10-year warranty of our products, with a free-replacement if the product breaks.
