THE LONG-TERM, LOW MAINTENANCE, LOW COST RF SOLUTION
The PIM reduction challenge for telecom RF solutions teams
Traditional approaches to the reduction of passive intermodulation (PIM) require continuous maintenance. Foams, strips and tape don’t last. Diagnostic visits are costly. Resolving PIM “trouble tickets” takes an average of 13 hours. Often antennas are unnecessarily replaced. IsoTruss has developed an alternative RF solution.
Protect your site from PIM with stealth technology
IsoTruss PIM Armor applies core principles similar to stealth fighter technology to isolate network signals and eliminate Passive Intermodulation (PIM). Constructed from aerospace-grade, lightweight, and exceptionally strong, weatherproof materials, our patent-pending IsoTruss products are designed for easy attachment to various structures, such as antennas, mounting frames, and parapet walls, effectively blocking interference from PIM sources.
IsoTruss has developed an innovation with significant advantages
- Easy Installation, no additional devices required (download installation file)
- Durable, weather proof, water and corrosion resistant
- Thin and lightweight
- Paintable and customizable
- Cost effective
The patent-pending IsoTruss PIM Armor panel solution
PIM interference is created in the connections between the tower and the equipment. Metal-to-metal connections can work as an “antenna” reverberating the RF signal and creating interference in the original signal. The IsoTruss PIM Armor panel is a patent-pending composite panel that can eliminate PIM interference behind the antenna. IsoTruss PIM Armor panels interface with existing mount hardware and can be installed without removing the antenna from the mount.
Increase the quality of your signal
By minimizing the passive intermodulation, the IsoTruss PIM mitigation solution can greatly increase the range and strength of your signal, improve the signal-to-noise ratio, upgrade system reliability and cut operating costs.
Proven in the field
The IsoTruss RF solution, now operational in the field with a major telecom, relieves the pain of installers as well as national uplink/interference/PIM remediation teams concerned about 5G system performance and operating costs. The components of our affordable kit are made with special RF properties to reflect/absorb signals that create interference.
FAQs
How do IsoTruss products eliminate PIM?
IsoTruss PIM Armor utilizes similar principles to stealth technology. This approach effectively isolates PIM (Passive Intermodulation) sources, thereby preventing them from disrupting the network signal. To learn more about our technology, including detailed information on lab testing and dielectric properties, please reach out to us.
How do IsoTruss PIM Armor products reduce backlobe interference?
IsoTruss PIM Armor panels are specifically engineered to mitigate Passive Intermodulation (PIM) issues by preventing backward signals from antennas that can interfere with the tower structure and mounting brackets. These panels are designed to precisely fit around the antenna, effectively eliminating PIM sources located behind it. Recognizing that PIM challenges are unique to each site, we offer customized solutions. Please share your specific circumstances, location details, and any other relevant factors so we can develop a tailored approach to resolve your issue.
Where has IsoTruss PIM Armor been installed in the field?
IsoTruss PIM Armor has proven effective in diverse applications across multiple states and network carriers. Other applications for IsoTruss PIM Armor include preventing antenna shadowing, covering parapet walls and isolating HVAC units or other equipment on rooftop sites. Contact us today to learn more about how IsoTruss PIM Armor can address your specific site needs.
Where can IsoTruss PIM Armor be installed?
IsoTruss PIM Armor offers nearly limitless installation possibilities because it is lightweight, strong, and weatherproof.
Panels can be mounted directly onto a surface or structure, such as:
- The back of antennas
- Mounts
- Walls
- HVAC units
- Other equipment on rooftops
Additionally, IsoTruss panels can be custom-designed to fit specific shapes. Examples include panels with wings to shield antenna side lobes or L-panels designed for parapet walls.
What is the difference between IsoTruss PIM Armor panels and the IsoCloak?
Both the IsoTruss PIM Armor panels and the flexible IsoCloak utilize the same PIM-blocking technology.
IsoTruss panels are designed for permanent applications, offering a lightweight and stiff solution ideal for attachment to various surfaces and structures.
In contrast, the IsoCloak is flexible, making it suitable for temporary use, such as draping over potential PIM sources during PIM hunting, or for permanent attachment to structures with unconventional shapes.
What standard sizes are available?
IsoTruss PIM Armor panels – 2’x2’ or 4’x2’
IsoTruss PIM Armor panels with wings – 2’x2’ with up to 8-inch wing
IsoTruss PIM DAS – fits standard DAS antenna
IsoTruss L-panel – 2’ long, two 6-inch sides at 90°
IsoCloak – 2’x2’ or 4’x2’
What is the best way to attach IsoTruss PIM Armor?
We recommend using very-high bond (VHB) tape on the back of rigid IsoTruss panels covering the full perimeter of the panel with Deltek or other plastic straps. For more information, see our installation guide.
Can IsoTruss PIM Armor be customized in terms of size and color?
Yes.
Size: IsoTruss PIM Armor can be easily cut on-site using standard tools. For safety instructions, please refer to our cutting safety video. We also offer custom pre-cutting services prior to shipping if preferred.
Color: Standard 2×2 and 4×2 panels are available in gray designed to seamlessly integrate with most antenna models. For custom color requirements, panels can be painted on-site or covered with vinyl.
